Colombery House, St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands: alterations for Clement Hemery, 1810 (9)

P.Dean, Sir John Soane and the country estate, 1999, has 'Soane's designs for remodelling an early-eighteenth-century house were drawn up from survey plans that had ben sent to him. He then sent back his designs, which included the addition of a new porch, replanning, and the removal of early-eighteenth-century mouldings from the facade of the house. The work was carried out in modified form by local artisans. The interior had roll-moulded joinery and an elegant marble chimneypiece. Many of the fittings were saved prior to the demolition of the houise in 1997 after a protracted campaign to save it.'
