Designs for a mirror frame for the drawing room, 1767, unexecuted (2)

This design for a mirror frame was not executed for the drawing room, but instead for the eating room.

There is a later, alternative Adam office design for a pier glass for the drawing room, dated 1773, within the National Trust drawings collection at Osterley. This is comprised of a fluted frame, surmounted by an urn flanked by female figures, and supported by festoons, arabesques, a naturalistic anthemion, and a small fan. A pair of frames was executed in gilt wood in accordance with this later design, and they survive in situ.
