Preliminary design for a bench stool for Lady Coventry's octagonal dressing room, c1765-68 (1)

This design has legs very similar to the backs of the hall chairs, designed by Adam for Coventry House in 1767 (Adam volume 17/92). Harris has suggested that this design may, therefore, be that intended for Lady Coventry's octagonal dressing room, included in Adam's bill to Lord Coventry in March 1767, at a cost of £2.2s.

The stool is very similar to those executed for Kenwood, and it is not known if Adam's stools for Lady Coventry's octagonal dressing room were executed.
