Record drawing for the Cieling of the Drawing room at Bolton House, as executed, July 1772 (1)

The drawing room was in the north-west corner of the house, on the first floor, between the Duchess of Bolton's dressing room and the great drawing room. It was remodelled by Adam in 1772-73, and with this elaborate ceiling, a marble chimneypiece, and large gilt mirror frames it became the most lavish interior in the house. The ceiling and chimneypiece were still in situ when the room was photographed in 1913.
