Designs for St John's, Bethnal Green, London, June 1825 [3]

This scheme consists of the earliest plans and a section for St John's, Bethnal Green. The most notable feature of the plans is the square-stepped entrance which singles it out as an early plan as this is altered in 1826. Also notable is that the use of giant pilasters as opposed to columns means there is no entrance porch with columns in-antis or projecting forward as at the other Soane Commissioner Churches. It is also shown to be a five-by-nine-bay church.
