Designs for the vaults for Holy Trinity Church, Marylebone, London, October-November 1825 (3)

The design for the vaults in outline follows those of SM 54/2/4-5. The curved staircases in the front towers and in the rear projections should be seen as starting at the vaults and ending at gallery level.

The two sections through the vaults show a marked difference from each other. The rounder, squatter openings of SM 54/4/34 are replaced in SM 54/4/35 with far taller, lozenge-shaped openings, which creates spaces which John estimated could be as high as 18 feet . This, as John argued, was necessitated by the revision of the orientation of the church in mid-1825, and the subsequent digging of new foundations.
