Preliminary design and designs for the Shambles and Butter Market, 1761, as executed (3)

The purpose of this design was to convert an existing market building into a covered market with arcaded sides for use by the butchers of High Wycombe. Adam's structure - executed to these designs - probably incorporated the older brick structure, which may have influenced the octagonal shape of the design. The Shambles and Butter Market (now the Little Market Hall) survives but was structurally altered in c1900.
