Design for the chimneypiece for the back parlour, c1769-70; it is not known if this design was executed (1)

The back parlour would have been the rear room on the ground storey of the house.

It is not known if this design was executed as there is no known photographic record of the chimneypiece prior to demolition.

This design makes use of the same frieze and consoles as that designed by Adam in 1767 for the state bedchamber at Harewood House (Adam volume 22/189). The Harewood design is inscribed in pencil with the words, 2d. House / D.Y. River front / Back Parlor, corresponding with the intended location for this design.
