Preliminary design and designs for a dairy, 1776-77, as executed (3)

1776-77
Lady Charlotte’s dairy was executed in 1776-77 in accordance with Adam’s designs. Among the extant drawings there is a design for a chimneypiece dated 1777. It is not known if the chimneypiece was executed, as the building was later demolished at an unknown date. According to King, the only known drawing of the erected building was made by Louis Pasquier, the 12th Earl’s valet. That no later record of the building survives, suggests that it was demolished by the 12th Earl himself, perhaps after Lady Charlotte abandoned him.
