There is no further drawing for this structure, and there is no archival or archaeological evidence relating to it, and therefore it is assumed that it was not executed. Owing to the elaborate nature of this design Bryant has suggested that this, like the epergne (Adam volumes 5/79-84 and 49/29-30), was intended as a temporary structure, perhaps a monumental entrance screen, for use during a celebration.

The Mr Kennedy referred to in the inscription in Robert Adam's hand on this drawing is unidentified, but it is worthy of note that a slater named John Kennedy worked for Mansfield at Kenwood, or this could possibly refer to the Hammersmith based nurseryman Lewis Kennedy (c1721-82).
