The inscriptions on Adam volume 32/110 are interesting for two reasons. Firstly there is an additional hand which inscribed various words including bed Chamber / my suggesting that this is the hand of the patron, Lord Barrymore himself. Secondly, in the hand of the draughtsman, the rear apartment is inscribed as being for Lady Barrymore. This cannot refer to Lord Barrymore's mother, as he was orphaned at the age of four, and he did not elope with Charlotte Goulding until 1792, after the drawings are thought to have been made. It would appear that when these designs were made Lord Barrymore was speculating a future marriage.
