Designs for ornamental panels on the sides of the sarcophagus on the funerary monument to Lieutenant-Colonel Roger Townshend, 1760, as executed (2)

These panels can be seen roughly drawn in two of Adam's elevations for the monument (Adam volumes 54/2/8 and 54/2/27), and clearly in another two elevations (Adam volumes 19/9-10). They are as executed, and remain in situ on the monument.

The portrait medallions show King George II in Adam volume 19/70, and the prince (later George III) in Adam volume 19/68. George III succeeded his father in October 1760 meaning that this monument design must be dated before the month of October.
