Working drawings for Pitzhanger Manor with Dance wing, 14 and 17 January 1801 (2)

The sections shown in drawings 101 and 102 correspond closely to the arrangements in drawings 97-99. The two are clearly an original and its copy, with slightly more detail in drawing 101.

The relationship between the Dance wing and Soane's villa is even more comprehensible as a longitudinal section, showing the gradual distribution of floors and space to tie a two-storey building with a raised basement to the two-storey existing structure. Thus the basement is dug below the 'present level of the ground' and the staircase is carefully calculated and positioned.

The overall arrangement is very close to the final design.
