Two sketches made on the same day showing the extant and the proposed Pitzhanger, 25 October 1800 (2)

This pair of drawings seem likely to be by Gandy given their stylistic similarity to some of his other pencil sketches and the fact that the relevant Day Book mentions him in connection with Ealing on that day, although Thomas Sword and Henry Hake Seward are also mentioned in connection with Pitzhanger.

The above drawings are evidently a pair, intended as a record - one for the house as it had been and the other for what it would eventually become. At this stage building works at Pitzhanger were at a very preliminary stage, so drawing 94 cannot be a sketch from life but must rather have been taken from designs within Soane's office.
