Adam's finished design for the building takes the form of a Roman basilica, being 71 feet long (including the apse) and 20 feet wide. According to Stillman 'Adam's delight in spatial arrangements and elegant decoration was not restricted to domestic architecture', and this commission allowed Adam to work on a scale very much larger than the majority of domestic commissions.
