London: Fife House, Whitehall; repairs and improvements for the 2nd Earl of Liverpool, 1809 (2)

Dorothy Stroud wrote that 'This house came up for sale in 1809 when Soane negotiated its purchase on behalf of Lord Liverpool for £12,000. He subsequently supervised extensive repairs and improvements for which the accounts amount to over £3,724. Further work was carried out in subsequent years partly to stem damp caused by the nearby river. Fife House was demolished circa 1868.' (D.Stroud, Sir John Soane architect, 1996, p.271).
