Finished drawings for an orangery greenhouse, c1767-80, executed with minor alterations (2)

The orangery at Osterley was executed to this design, but without the statues in the niches or on the acroteria. The building survived until a fire in 1950, following which it was demolished.

Although smaller, this design for the Osterley orangery greenhouse is similar to that for Adam's greenhouse at Croome Court (SM Adam volume 29/136-137).

These two drawings appear to be in the hand of the Adam office draughtsman William Hamilton. As such they cannot have been produced later than 1774 when Hamilton left the Adam brothers' employment.
