Finished drawings for a greenhouse, 1759, unexecuted (4)

These drawings show two different schemes for the greenhouse as a different roof arrangement is shown in Adam volume 40/38 and 40/39. Moreover, the upper register of windows are shown in the side elevation (Adam volume 40/38), and not in the section (Adam volume 40/39), though they might have been intended to be blind like the other two lower register windows that are also not shown in the section.

A near identical design was made for Lieutenant General Humphrey Bland's greenhouse at Thistleworth (now Gordon) House in Isleworth. And there are drawings which correspond to these designs in the drawings collection at Kedleston Hall.

Adam's greenhouse design for Kedleston was not executed, and instead George Richardson's design of 1799 was executed in 1800-1, and then moved 100 yards from its original location in 1922, where it survives.
