The state dressing room is on the south front of the house, between the state bed chamber and the saloon.

This ceiling design relates to that for the state bed chamber (Adam volume 11/147), showing that the two rooms were designed en suite. The ceiling here survives, though the walls were lined with bookcases in the 1840s by Barry. A similar scheme followed in the saloon at Nostell Priory in 1768.
