This is an important work on the naval administration of James, Duke of York (afterwards King James II) in his capacity as Lord High Admiral, based on letters originally collected by Lord Frederick Howard, relating to the Second Dutch War, Newfoundland, fisheries in Iceland &c.. and possibly edited by Samuel Pepys, who was clerk of the acts of the navy board at this time. Binding C18th mottled calf, gilt double-ruled borders andd spine, without spine-label or lettering.
