Gracian's Oráculo manual, y arte de prudencia was first published in Madrid, 1653; it was first translated into French in 1684 and also English in 1685; the notes by Amelot de la Houssaie accompanied subsequent English editions. The additional engraved title-page is included in the register ([*1]); the final two leaves of prelims contain an alphabetical 'Catalogue Des Livres imprimez chez Abraham Troyel.'.

Copy Notes Inscribed in ink on front free-endpaper John Soane, and in pencil on both pastedowns 1/.

Binding C18th sprinkled calf, gilt-panelled spine, gilt-lettered.
