First Dublin edition. Collections of 'Foote's Dramatic Works' had begun to appear in 1768. Following Foote's death in 1777 a number of posthumous collections appeared. These were for the most part collections of separately published plays bound together and issued at various times under imprints representing some, though not necessarily all, of the current copyholders. In this Dublin edition, each play has a half-title but each volume is continuously paginated. Volume II is printed by A. Stuart, and vol. III by W. Kidd. Contents: I: The Englishman in Paris. The Englishman returned from Paris. The orators. The patron. The minor. Maid of Bath. The mayor of Garret -- II: The bankrupt. The lame lover. The lyar. The commissary. The cozeners. The knights -- III: The author. Trip to Calais. The Capuchin. The nabob. The tailors. Taste. The devil upon two sticks. ESTC t17903.

Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting vols II--III. Soane's signature in ink on the front free-endpaper (underneath bookseller's hieroglyphics) is dated 1792 and accompanied by a comic face. A two-volume collection of Foote's plays dated 1809 is also in Soane's library (q.v.).
