Bernardino Baldi is named as author in the imprimatur. Published by Cardinal Annibale Albani (1682--1751) and dedicated to James, Prince of Wales, styled James III, the so-called Old Pretender. Title-page printed in red and black. Engraved head- and tail-pieces.
Copy Notes Imperfect; wanting the portrait of James, prince of Wales, engraved by M.N. Belle after A.S. Belle. Bought from W. Boone for 15 s. on 25 December 1821. (Priv. Corr. XVI E.4.11). Inscribed in pencil on front paste-down 146 Plates. Inscribed in ink on recto of front free-endpaper Decr. 1821 / I--pc--I, on verso in pencil Dup. to be sold.
Binding C18th vellum, blind-ruled spine, red morocco spine-label. Foot of spine lettered in ink '1243'
