Although the additional engraved title-plate and dedications are dated 1632, the papal license is dated 6 October 1634. One leaf of letterpress (recto blank) and six engraved plans of cemeteries numbered 591.A--F are inserted between pp. [590] and 591: five of the plans are printed as plates (including one double-page); 591.D however is printed as a full-page illustration (bearing on its verso the letterpress relating to pl. 591.E). This is the first, posthumously published edition of the first comprehensive survey of the ancient Christian remains of Rome. See S. Bottom fore-edges of three front free-endpapers and half-title excised and repaired to size. Half-title inlaid to size and inscribed in ink on lower border subsequent to paper repair Voyez un abrégé de la vie du dit antonio Bosio dans Jani Nicii Erithræi pinacotheca. coloniæ agrippinæ / Egmond 1643 in 12; on y trouve aussi la vie de Jacques, et de Thomas Bosius. Old paper repairs to acid(?) mark on engraved title and following 6 leaves of letterpress.
Binding C17th mottled calf, gilt-tooled spine, gilt-lettered spine-title in second compartment.
