[16], 140 p., add. engr. t.-pl., [71] pl. (incl. 2nd add. engr. t.-pl.) printed on [36] leaves (2 fold.) : full-page engr. dedic. ; 17.2 cm. (8°)

There are two additional engraved title-plates, one prefacing the letterpress which reads 'Leçons Données dans L'Academie Royale de la Peintvre et Scvltvre Par A. Bosse', and another printed on the recto of pl. 1 reading 'Les Pratiqves Par Figvres Des choses dites cy deuant ... Par A. Bosse ...' . The plates, printed recto and verso, are numbered 1--6, 6--7, 7--67. For a catalogue description of Bosse's engravings in this work see André Blum's L'oeuvre gravé d'Abraham Bosse (1924), no. 788--857.

Copy Notes The Soane copy is bound with Bosse's Moyen universel de pratiquer la perspective, 1653 (q.v.) and Le peintre converty, 1667 (q.v.); for another less disorganised sammelband made up of these works see the British Library copy, shelfmark 51.e.16.(2.). In the Soane copy pl. 6 has been printed upside-down; the additional engraved title-plate to the text is misbound between the final page of the Moyen universel and a leaf headed 'A. Bosse Av Lecteur, ...' from Le peintre converty; the two-leaf dedication 'A Messire Nicolas De Croismare', the first page of which (leaf ã2r) is wholly engraved, is misbound at the head of the volume after the dedication 'Aux Curieux' from Le peintre converty; and misbound after pl. 32 is a duplicate (folding) pl. 32 dated 1669 belonging to the Moyen universel. Inscribed in ink on front free endpaper John Soane / 1809 and in pencil probably in the hand of the bookseller Thomas Boone rare =3s. These inscriptions suggest that this volume may be the 'Du Bos. Perspective &c.' purchased by Soane from Boone on 12 December 1809, as no work on perspective by Du Bos or Dubos has been traced. (Spiers Box). With the additional engraved title-plate to the letterpress inscribed in pencil Numerous Plates / Perspective &c - 3s -.
