The first edition of this celebrated clarion call for political and liturgical reform, for which Frend stood trial in the university vice-chancellor's court, had appeared earlier the same year (q.v.). In the present edition the offending passages are set in single inverted commas. Includes an 'Appendix, on the execution of Louis Capet' and 'The effect of war on the poor'. ESTC t11321.

Binding Bound in a numbered series of late 19th century half calf pamphlet volumes. (Archive, Trustees' Minutes 18 June 1866). With binder's stamp 'Bound By Mansell' on front pastedown.
