An historical sketch of the island of Candia, the ancient Crete.

Drop-head title, p. [4] blank. Watermark date: 1831. This 'sketch', which consists of no more than a collection of quotations from modern historians, the classics and the Bible, was intended to advertise the merits of a view of the island's capital, Candia, 'painted near two hundred years since' and 'now in the possession of Mr. Winter, 32, Sackville Street, where it may be viewed'.

Copy Notes Inscribed in ink following the 'Short Description Of The Picture' on p.[3] To be disposed of partly for a Charitable purpose. At this date, the Religious Tract and Book Society for Ireland also had its London premises at 32 Sackville Street.
