Second edition. First published in numbers between 1797 and 1801 and first issued in full with an engraved title-plate in 1801. The dedication to the Duke of Ancaster and Kesteven is signed by Bartholomew Howlett and dated 'Jan. 1800.' See notes to BAL, Early printed books, no. 1564 (a later edition, c. 1814).

Copy Notes Verso of front free-endpaper marked in pencil with the price £3.13s:6d/ and with bookseller's hieroglyph, probably Thomas Boone's.

Binding C19th full russia, upper and lower covers with gilt-tooled diaper-pattern borders, gilt-tooled spine with maltese crosses, decorated (vinegar-painted?) fore-edges.
