Compiled by Géraud de La Chau and Gaspard Michel (called Le Blond) in collaboration with François Arnaud (vol. I) and Henri Coquille-Deslongschamps (vol. II). The work is notable for the many culs-de-lampe designed and engraved by Augustin de Saint-Aubin who also drew and engraved the gems: see E. Bocher, Les gravures françaises du XVIIIe siècle ... 5e fascic., Paris 1879, nos. 691--935. With five plates of "Médailles Spintriennes" in volume II, of a possible seven. Engraved head- and tail-pieces.

Copy Notes Bought from Jos. Taylor's Architectural Library for 6 guineas, 5 November 1814. (Archive 7A/15/31). Volume I with printed ticket of 'Grégoire, Libraire, Quai Des Augustins, No. 37, A Paris.' on front paste-down.

Binding C18th tree calf, gilt roll-tool lily-and-palmette and Greek key borders, gilt-tooled spines, red and green morocco spine-labels, gilt edges.
