105, [3] p., [3] fold. pl. : [4] engr. illus. ; 19.2 cm. (4º)

First published Antwerp 1584. The dedication and plate [2] dated 1584. The second part has its own title-page (p. [81]) reading 'Ivsti Lisi De Amphitheatris Qvæ Extra Romam Libellvs. ...', with the same imprint; pagination and register continuous. The author was a Flemish philologist and humanist best known for his editions of Tacitus and Seneca.

Copy Notes Front paste-down inscribed in pencil -2-. With a scribbled out, illegible ownership inscription in ink (two lines) on upper right corner of the title-page.

Binding C17th sprinkled calf triple-ruled in blind, gilt-tooled spine, black spine-label reading 'Amphi/ Theat.'
