The 'Author Of "Planting And Ornamental Gardening"' = William Marshall. Both published in 1794, The landscape, a didactic poem is by Richard Payne Knight (q.v.) and An essay on the picturesque is by Uvedale Price (q.v.). Marshall, an agricultural writer and land agent, wrote these reviews in response to the criticisms of contemporary agricultural improvements by Knight and Price, two leading figures in the Picturesque movement.
