Malcolm MacGreggor is a pseudonym for the poet William Mason (1724--1797), the anonymous author of An Heroic Epistle, 1771, a satirical attack on Chambers's essay on Chinese gardens in his Designs of Chinese buildings, 1757 (q.v.). The preface (pp. [i]--vi) is signed by J[ohn] Almon (1757--1805), book and pamphlet seller, proprietor and editor of the General Advertiser and friend of Wilkes; dated Boxmoor, Herts, March 21, 1805. This collection of Mason's poems includes his Ode to Mr Pinchbeck, 1776 (q.v.).
