Also published by M. Drouhin in a quarto edition (q.v.); BAL2139 suggests that the present folio edition, an almost word-for-word resetting, is later than the quarter, and was likely introduced to satisfy a demand for a more lavish edition of the work. BAL, Early printed books, no. 2139.

Copy Notes Volume I has an unidentified, engraved armorial bookplate of the die-sinker style, per chevron argent and azure with a lion rampant, pasted in on the front paste-down endpaper, and a grey wash drawing of the madonna, probably by a French 18th-century artist, pasted down on the back-endpaper. Each volume has the red printed label of the booksellers, Priestley and Weale pasted in on the front paste-down.

Binding Late C18th/early C19th 'catspaw' mottled calf, gilt-tooled spine with medusa's heads in sun-bursts framed in Greek key, red and black morocco spine-labels.
