Translated from the Danish of the original manuscript by J.B. des Roches de Parthenay for the Kongelige Danske Videnskabernes Selskab. Published posthumously in two volumes, each of four parts, with continuous pagination and plate numbering. Plates XVII, XXIII, XXVII, LXVI and CVIII are printed on two plates each and pl. CXL--CXLI and CXLII--III are paired. The engraved illustrations serve as head-pieces to each part. For details on the publication history of this work, see notes to a later English edition of the plates in BAL, Early printed books, no. 2313 (p. 1269). Tome I includes a letter to Martin Folkes giving a critique of John Greaves' Pyramidographia, which had been re-published in 1741.

Copy Notes James Stuart's copy, inscribed in ink J. Stuart. 1756 on the title-page to tom. II. This is almost certainly the copy was bought from [James] Lack[ington] for £5 on 26 August 1793 (Jnl 2, p. 312 ); the payment of an unspecified sum to 'Taylor' on 16 June 1801 (SNB) was probably for binding. There is only one copy of Norden's Voyage d'Egypte in Soane's library.

Binding Two volumes bound as one. Re-bound with added gilt work in the early C19th? (endpaper w/m 1794), preserving contemporary calf back (ten raised bands in pairs, direct gilt-tooled short title, rich wave, Greek key and lozenge decoration) and diced russia upper and lower covers (single fillet frame inside roll-tooled floral and fillet borders, roll-tooled edges). Text block edges with green Herrnhut marbling; for the same design in red, see E.W. Mick, Altes Buntpapier, 1979, Abb. 22 (lower illus.). Binding repaired by Bernard Middleton, March 1993.
