The title is engraved and includes an etched vignette by Giovanni de Pian of an antique bas-relief described on p.33. 'Made. J.W.C.D.R.' is Justine Wynne, Countess Orsini-Rosenberg. With a dedication to William Petty, 1st Marquis of Lansdowne (i.e. Lord Shelburne), signed by the editor, 'Le Comte Benincasa' (i.e. Bartolomeo Benincasa (1745--1825)). The work describes the elaborate garden and collection of Graeco-Roman and Egyptian statuary at Alticchiero, the country estate of Senator Angelo Quirini situated on the Brenta two-and-a-half miles outside Padua. According to the editor's 'Avant-Propos' this edition is revised and enlarged from an earlier version published by 'Monsieur Huber' in Geneva which had been distributed only amongst his and the author's friends.
