First edition Paris, 1693. Jacques Ozanam was a prolific author of mathematical treatises including the standard French explication of Euclid's 'elements' of the late seventeenth century, an important work on perspective, a successful mathematical dictionary (q.v.) and a popular series of mathematical 'Recreations' (q.v.). In this 'course', tom. I contains 'l'Introduction aux Mathematiques, & les Elemens d'Euclide'; tom. II, 'l'Arithmetique, la Trigonometrie, & les Tables de Sinus'; tom. III, 'la Geometrie'; tom. IV, 'la Mecanique & la Perspective'; and tom. V, 'la Geographie & la Gnomonique'. Each section has a drop-title, with separate pagination and register. Title-pages printed in red and black.

Copy Notes Thomas Boone was paid 10s. on 22 July 1805. (Spiers Box). Volume I inscribed in ink 5 Vol; 15s/ and 0/10/0 / John Soane / 1805. Volumes II--V similarly signed and dated on front free-endpapers.

Binding Early C18th (?) speckled calf, blind panels within blind-rule borders, floral gilt-tooled spines, red spine-labels.
