[99] pl. ; 26.8 cm. (4°)

Engraved throughout. The above title in French is numbered pl. I and parallel titles in Dutch (Beeld-snyders' kunst-kabinet ...) and English (Statue's, or Art's cabinet ...) appear on pl. II. The remaining plates consist of a dedication in Dutch and French to Jeronimo Tonnemans (pl. A); portraits and trilingual biographies of Bossuit and Graat (pl. III--VIII); 89 plates of statues, bas-reliefs, etc., with French captions (pl. IX--CIII; six plates with two views each); and a final unnumbered plate listing the contents in Dutch (omitting the dedication plate). A traditional view of a statue is sometimes augmented by a second 'en racourci' i.e. from a low viewpoint, the subject supported by clouds instead of the ground. Berlin Kat. 4216 records what appears to be a later issue of the same plates with an additional title-plate, again in Dutch and English, published in 1829 'Te Zalt-Bommel, Bij Johannes Noman'.

Copy Notes Second (early) front free-endpaper inscribed in pencil, probably in Thomas Boone's hand, Rare £1=16s=0/ on 103 Plates Index at the End.

Binding Contemporary C18th vellum, spine gilt-tooled over olive-stained background with red morocco label lettered in gilt 'Statues/ De/ Bossuit'. The pastedowns and conjugate endleaves are of a later date.
