Folded half-sheet, pp.[2] & [4] blank. Dated 12 'August 1834' from the Office of Capt. Ross / 156 Regent Street. With a printed 'Formula for inserting the Names of Subscribers ...' (p.[3]) initialled with the monogram in ink CB [?], according to which the work was to be printed in one quarto volume 'Price £2. 2s. Demy' or '£2. 12s. 6d. Royal', the latter 'with first impressions of the Plates' and 'several ... coloured.' The published work appeared the following year in two volumes as Narrative of a second voyage in search of a north-west passage and included an account of the discovery of the magnetic North Pole by the author's nephew, Commander James Clark Ross.
