First published under the title Studio d'architettura civile sopra gli ornamenti di porte, e finestre ..., in three parts issued in 1722, 1724 and 1728 (q.v.). This second edition was issued by the Florence-based French publisher Joseph Bouchard, who obtained the coppers after Ruggieri's death and reprinted them, augmenting the work with a fourth volume in two parts respectively titled Piante ed alzati interiori ed esterni ... di S. Maria del Fiore ... misurati e delineati dal senatore Gio. Battista Nelli ... intagliati dal Sig. Bernardo Sansone Sgrilli ... da aggiugnersi alle opere di Ferdinando Ruggieri ..., containing a new edition of B.S. Sgrilli's Descrizione e studi dell'insigne fabbrica di S. Maria del Fiore (first published in 1733, q.v.) with one redrawn and two new plates and entirely rewritten text bearing the imprint 'Nella Stamperia Moückiana'dated 1755 on the p. XXXXIX colophon; and La Libreria Mediceo-Laurenziana architettura di Michelangelo Buonarroti disegnata e illustrata da Giuseppe Ignazio Rossi (first published in 1739). The vol. I dedication has a cancel slip correcting Bouchard's name which had been printed 'Boucard'.

Copy Notes Imperfect; vol. IV, pt. i wanting pl. IX. The title-page to vol. IV, pt. ii misbound to precede the plates to pt. i. Bound in two volumes, the first inscribed in pencil on front pastedown 4 vol 2 - 2.2.0 and in ink 6124, and in ink on rear pastedown rv.

Binding C18th quarter vellum, white paper boards, red morocco spine-labels. Four volumes bound as two.
