First edition of Stow's popular and influential Survey of London; the same sheets were also issued with a variant title-leaf dated 1599 (ESTC s117888). The main text is in black letter type, with the shoulder notes in roman type. STC (2nd ed.) 23341; ESTC s117887.

Copy Notes Inscribed in ink on front free-endpaper This Book belonged to the late / Mr Samuel Richardson and was / presented to Mr Soane by his / Widow 182[3 or 5]. -. Mary Esther Richardson was the mother of Soane's assistant Charles James Richardson (1809--1871) whose apprenticeship commenced in February 1824.
