The author was a member of the Royal Society and the Society of Antiquaries with somewhat eccentric notions; in this pamphlet he claimed that the second coming was imminent, in fulfilment of the prophecy of the second book of Esdras, and attempted to interpret the French Revolution in terms of scripture. A 'Supplement' was published in the following year, but is not in Soane's library. ESTC t9606.

Copy Notes Bound (5) in a collection of sermons and tracts.

Binding Early C19th sprinkled calf, gilt double-rule spine, red spine-label reading 'Sermons & Tracts', numbered '49' in a series of pamphlet volumes.
