The Dowager Lady Elcho was Susan, née Keck, widow of Francis Charteris, Lord Elcho (1749--1808). Her mother, Lady Susanna Keck, née Hamilton (1706--1755), was active in the politics of the Oxfordshire election of 1754 which inspired Hogarth's Election series, and was implicated in the 'Rag Plot'.
