First published in 1715; the 'Office for the Holy Communion' was first added to the second edition of that year; the 'Character of the Author' was first added to the third edition of 1716 and consists of the verses 'On Mr. Nelson' signed: 'S. W' [i.e. Samuel Wesley, the Elder] on pages xiii--xx. The frontispiece portrait of the author is by I. Fletcher after Kneller. ESTC n472831.

Copy Notes Ownership inscription in ink on front pastedown is erased.

Binding C18th sprinkled calf, gilt double-ruled borders and spine, without spine-label or lettering.
