Firmin Didot (1764--1836) was the typefounder who designed the Didot typeface and invented stereotypes (plates cast from printing surfaces) enabling him to publish low-priced editions.

Copy Notes Financial calculation in ink on title-page. Some markings in ink, probably by Soane who visited Paris in August--September 1819. Figures and calculations in ink on final page. Bound (4) in a collection of booksellers' price lists. Traces of yellow paper spine.


Binding Recent olive green binder's cloth, gilt-lettered spine, numbered '60' in a series of sale catalogue volumes. Bound February 1925.
