Copy Notes Inscribed in ink on blank p. [3] with a list of Soane's purchases: The office of the Holy Week according to the missall and Roman breviary, 1670 (q.v.); first editions of Milton's Paradise lost (q.v.) and Paradise regained (q.v.) and Burton's Anatomy of melancholy, 1621 (q.v.); Milton's Poems (q.v.); and Boccaccio's Decameron, 1545 (q.v.). Endorsed in ink on blank p. [4] 1826 / 9th November / A.W. Barlace / for 6 Books £5..5..-. Attached to the first recto is Barlace's embossed receipt dated 9 November 1826 for £5 5s. for six books. Three further books, a rare 1501 edition of Boethius (q.v.), 'MS on the Pointed Arch' and 'Irelands Shakespeare MSS' (q.v.) were purchased on 13 November for £12. (Priv. Corr. XVI.E.6.11).
