NEWSPAPER EXTRACTS
[A volume of newspaper extracts, 1767--1815]
[336] p. ; 32.4 cm. (4º)

A collection of miscellaneous newspaper extracts pasted down on 336 pages of a large quarto blue paper scrapbook, assembled by an unidentified hand. Many of the cuttings are dated in ink with dates between March 1767 (p. [1]) and January 1815; the arrangement becomes more strictly (though never entirely) chronological beginning c. 1802, suggesting that the volume began to be compiled around that date. The subject matter includes current affairs, the French wars, comic verses and anecdotes, prices, and remedies. A MS. index compiled in a C20th curatorial hand, accompanies the volume and is probably contemporary to the repair of the binding.
