Lloyd was the author of The actor (1760), a panegyric to David Garrick, and during a six-month spell in 1761 as poetry reviewer for The Monthly Review reviewed Charles Churchill's anonymously published satirical poem The Rosciad, later becoming an associate of Churchill. An engraved portrait of Lloyd is used as a title-page vignette in both volumes. The last leaf of vol. II contains an advertisement for Shakespeare's Poems, published by Thomas Evans. ESTC t94392.

Binding C18th sprinkled calf, gilt-ruled borders, gilt-tooled spine compartments with urn motif, red and green morocco spine-labels.
