A partial copy of an unidentified edition of Joseph Glanvill's Saducismus triumphatus, first published in 1681; the second edition was published in 1682. The present copy consists of 'An Appendage To this First Part, Concerning the Possibility Of Apparitions And Witchcraft. Containing The Easie, True, and Genuine Notion, and consistent Explication of the Nature of a Spirit, ...' with imprint 'London: Printed, 1682' on leaf L5r; and 'An Ansvver To A Letter Of a Learned Psychopyrist Concerning the true Notion of a Spirit Exhibited in the foregoing Discourse; ... By Henry More D.D.' with imprint 'London, Printed for S. Lownds, 1681.' commencing new pagination on leaf Q2r, the text breaking off at the end of 'Sect. V.' (catchword: Sect.') on R1v. Tentatively matched with ESTC r 233939 or r215114.

Binding Late C18th/early C19th half calf, marbled-paper boards, gilt- and blind-tooled spine with Greek key roll tool direct-lettered in gilt, with 'CR' monogram of Richard Cosway (11 x 8 mm) in upper compartment.
