Colophon: 'A Anvers, De l'Imprimerie d'Arnould Coninx. l'An 1593.'. First published in Paris, 1580; the 1581 edition of this work on witchcraft by the French legal and political theorist Jean Bodin is also in Soane's library (q.v.). At foot of title: 'Auec Priuilege pour six Ans.'; the privilege on the title-page verso dated 'Bruxelles le 15. de Nouembre l'An 1481 [sic]', corrected in ink 1591. Woodcut printer's device on title-page and on final leaf with motto 'Virtute Et Constantia'.
Copy Notes Ownership inscriptions in ink on front pastedown and title-page struck out in ink, the latter dated 1614. Inscribed on title-page in ink with (?)library shelfmark D.4.21. Final page inscribed in ink at head of printer's device Bulrancq [or Bulrance?].
Binding C17th(?) vellum, later paper spine-label lettered in ink 'Demonoma-/nie / 1593'.
