The Memoirs of the Duc de Sully, the French Huguenot minister who was instrumental in Henry of Navarre's accession to the throne of France, were first published in Amsterdam, 1632. With engraved frontispiece portrait of the author in tome I, a plate of the monument erected in 1595 to commemorate the failure of Jean Chastel's attempted assassination of the King and destroyed in 1606 facing the publisher's dedication 'Aux Manes De Sully', and a portrait of Henri IV following the preface.

Copy Notes Tome I front free-endpaper inscribed in pencil 6 Vols with bookseller's code a/ia/B and another code I/IE on the rear free-endpaper.

Binding C18th marbled calf, gilt double-rule borders, gilt-tooled spines with motif of sunbursts incorporating eight-pointed stars, red and black leather spine-labels, light blue silk bookmarks.
